I’ve always wanted to be like the cool kids and have my own personal webpage. A few years back I made my first efforts and decided to go for something that would allow me to:
- Create a simple static web page
- Write posts in markdown using my favorite editor
I settled for Jekyll because it seemed to be popular and fit my modest requirements. Pretty soon I was consumed by CSS, Javascript and web page optimizations. In the end I never managed to finalize my work, but I did learn quite a lot about web technologies.
Enter 2018 and I decided to revisit my old idea of a personal site, but this time around with a new requirement:
- I don’t want to tinker too much with CSS, JS and visual apperence of the site
So, I ended up using this awesome boilerplate theme from Hux and it took me just a few hours to get my first post published. I’ve documented what I did to get the page up and running (and optimized) in this post.
I don’t anticipate being an active blogger but hope to find pleasure in writing posts occasionally.
